The Independent Expert Advisory Council is a private, peer advisory group of professionals that sell expertise. The Council focuses on building profitable, stable practices for independent operators and founders of small services firms. 

Do you qualify for membership?

The Council is designed for eight, established professionals who sell expertise.

Members are experienced operators successfully operating a solo or small firm practice in non-competing areas of expertise. 

It is not for employees, those looking for referrals, or individuals looking for networking or group coaching.

It is a working group that requires candor, commitment, contribution, and a willingness to share challenges and provide guidance to other members. 

  • Minimum 3 years in business
  • Solo or founder of small expertise driven firm
  • Direct authority over pricing and client selection
  • Willingness to both challenge and be challenged
  • Consistent attendance and preparation
  • Contribution to peer discussions, not passive consumption
  • Long-term orientation toward building a durable firm

eight operators. One closed room

The Council is composed of eight vetted, experienced professionals who each operate expertise-driven solo practices or small (10 or less FTE) firms. Every member carries real responsibility for pricing, positioning, and economic outcomes.

Each session is structured around member-submitted challenges. Issues are prioritized, time is allocated deliberately, and the group works through one challenge at a time.

Sessions are confidential and closed-door. Written transcriptions are made available to members. Video recordings are not permitted.

The Council has very limited membership for good reason. We want to make sure every member gets the attention they deserve.

Each seat is filled deliberately. The primary goal is to build a vibrant room in terms of shared expertise with a culture of contribution.

When seats are filled, completed applications will be added to a waiting list for when a seat becomes available.

  • 12 month commitment
  • Monthly meetings (fixed day and time)
  • Maximum eight members
  • Confidential, closed-door discussions
  • External expert presentation every other session
  • Active contribution required
